My name is Katy (she/her) and I am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor®, Health at Every Size® informed, non-diet dietitian nutritionist based in San Francisco, CA.

What does it mean to be a dietitian who uses Intuitive Eating, HAES® and a non-diet approach?

Knowing what to eat, how to be healthy and feel good in your body can seem like an impossible road to navigate with all the mixed messages out there.

You are tired of trying out different diets, weight cycling and micro-managing your eating habits and I am here to help.

My approach is not about telling you what to eat or forcing you into a lifestyle that doesn’t work for you. Instead, I help you use intuitive eating to navigate your relationship with food and a weight-inclusive approach to help you navigate your relationship with your body. I don’t believe in fad diets and I am here to help you navigate eating patterns that work for you specifically.

Hello!

This is a photo of me from high school.

I was always trying to change myself and my body to “fit in” which was a quest for perfection that set me up to feel like a failure time and time again.

It started with dieting/disordered eating that eventually led to an eating disorder. When I went on to college and started my degree to become a dietitian, I started learning how to help others heal, and in the process started learning how to heal for myself.

For a long time I excluded myself from the recovery community, thinking that because I never received “formal” treatment that meant that my disorder was never “that bad”.

For a little bit about me…

So now I would like to change the narrative…

There are many reasons why eating disorders and disordered eating go undiagnosed and untreated and it does not mean that they are not worthy of that treatment.

My past is a way to say “I am not afraid to go there with you, into the messiness, because I have been down that road too.”

Not all recovery paths are going to look the same just like every person’s struggles with disordered eating or an eating disorder are not the same.

Whether formally diagnosed or not, having received formal treatment in the past or not - there is space for you here.

• You are skeptical if intuitive eating could “work” for you

• You feel like something is “off” about your relationship with food

• You suspect you have an eating disorder or have been formally diagnosed

• You have received treatment in the past or this is your first time

• You are overwhelmed with trying to figure out how to eat “normally”

• You know you are tired of dieting but don’t really know what a life looks like without it

• You have tried to stop your eating disorder patterns but feel a little helpless about ever really healing

• You feel like your body is broken and you don’t understand why you can’t just eat like other people do

This space is for you if…

It is so brave of you to think about reaching out for help.

Over the years I have worked in different levels of care including inpatient, residential, intensive outpatient and outpatient. I have experience with all types of eating disorders and helped people alongside their amazing teams. I have worked with clients that want to stop chronic dieting but don’t know how to break the cycle.

I have the unique perspective of seeing recovery from so many different angles and have the ability to help you so you don’t have to be as lost as I was.

This is difficult work, but there is a beautiful and full life on the other side of it. I have seen it with so many throughout my years of work and I have seen it for myself.

You don’t have to go it alone!
